As September draws to a close, it’s been another incredibly busy and successful week here at Newton Abbot College.
Firstly, we had a wonderful Open Evening on Thursday. There was a great atmosphere walking around throughout the evening and I’d like to say a big thankyou to all parents and carers who came out in the rain to be part of it! Our prefects and student helpers were absolutely brilliant; they are a credit to you and us and a fantastic advert for our college. It was wonderful to see them looking so smart and representing our college’s ethos through their uniform. Just a reminder that small aspects of uniform really make a difference – black socks, no trainers and minimal jewellery all really help make for a great impression, so thank you for your continued support with this.
In other news, year 7 are really excited for their trip to Bude this weekend. We hope they’ll make lasting memories and have a fantastic experience. We look forward to telling you all about it in next week’s update.
In sport, year 8 rugby had their first win of the year – well done to them! We’ve also had a really successful hockey event with different year groups involved.
We’re thrilled to see club membership going up each week across all clubs within the college and seeing so many of our students getting stuck in and making the most of what we have to offer.
We now also have a Wellbeing Hub set up for students with wellbeing ambassadors on hand to support and provide guidance on a range of wellbeing topics such as mindfulness. The hub is particularly good for students who need quiet space or want to make new friends in a safe space and is supervised by staff. The Wellbeing Hub runs during break 1 (11:05 – 11:35) in the Religion & Values building.
