We would like to congratulate The Maynard School on being awarded the Bronze Award at the 2026 Oppidan Mentoring Awards for its outstanding academic mentoring scheme.
The programme pairs Lower and Upper Sixth Form students from The Maynard with GCSE students from Newton Abbot College and Paignton Academy for weekly mentoring sessions. Since its launch in September 2024, the scheme has had a hugely positive impact on all those involved.
Our students have benefited from the knowledge, encouragement and personalised support provided by their mentors, helping to build confidence and strengthen their academic progress. At the same time, The Maynard’s Sixth Form students have been able to consolidate their own subject knowledge while developing valuable communication, leadership and public speaking skills.
We are proud to be part of this successful partnership and would like to congratulate Mr Ridler, the student mentors and everyone involved in delivering this award-winning initiative.
