Welcome and thank you for taking the time to read through our safeguarding section.
At Newton Abbot College we are committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of our students. We take this responsibility extremely seriously and work incredibly hard to ensure that staff, students and families have information readily available to them should they need additional support.
Throughout this section, you will find a wealth of information ranging from how to report a concern to specific safeguarding topics such as County Lines, child sexual exploitation and mental health.
Your child’s safety and welfare is of paramount importance, overriding all other considerations. We will always act to protect a student where there is a disclosure or concern of child abuse. We will endeavour to communicate our concerns to parents and carers however there are times where this isn’t always possible. If we believe a student could become more at risk by informing a parent or carer then we will seek advice and refer to appropriate agencies without there prior knowledge.
We follow all statutory guidance as well as our own policies and procedures. Our child protection and safeguarding policy can be found here. Paper copies are available upon request. If you require a copy of any policy in an accessible form, then please enquire at main reception.
We hope you find the information included in this section informative.
