In the event that a student is unable to attend lessons onsite due to long term sickness, Newton Abbot College ensures all students can continue to access their learning through a range of avenues.
In many subjects, we use booklets to support students’ learning and these can be shared with students remotely, online and in paper version. Booklets work by guiding students through new content, posing questions, providing model answers and creating opportunities for students to read and answer questions on their studies. We focus on recall and retrieval, and we pay close attention to literacy, career links and British Values.
Students are also able to access our VLE where all subjects provide term by term, week by week, lesson by lesson content for students to engage with. The learning is in line with our curriculum and allows students to continue learning the key threshold concepts needed to ensure that gaps are closed and learning is maximised.
Our teachers are also on hand to provide any personalised guidance for students who need further information and direction and we are always here to support children to access their learning in a way that supports their recovery and their education.
